Creating Lasting Change

Discover how the Transformational Leadership Center (TLC) empowers individuals, families, and communities through innovative programs that promote peacebuilding, leadership development, education, sustainable agriculture, and community resilience. Our work is rooted in the belief that lasting transformation begins with empowered people and collaborative action.

Peace & Education

Read Aloud sessions · Peace Clubs · peer mediation · peace debates · Digital Library

The Children’s Peace Libraries were created in response to Rwanda’s post-genocide need for healing, empathy, and peacebuilding. The program combines reading, guided discussions, social-emotional learning, and conflict resolution training, helping children become confident readers and compassionate leaders.

Leadership Empowerment

Good governance training · community leadership · AVP workshops

TLC develops ethical, responsible, and visionary leaders committed to building peaceful and resilient communities. Local leaders train in good governance, community leadership, and organizational development. In Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) workshops, participants learn nonviolent conflict resolution through interactive exercises, dialogue, and reflection.

Digital Empowerment

Online reading · debates · research skills · digital learning platforms

TLC prepares children for the digital world while fostering leadership and creativity. Through online reading, debates, research skills, and digital learning platforms, children build knowledge and critical thinking, and learn to apply digital skills for learning, leadership, and community impact.

Community Mobilization for Poverty Reduction & Climate Resilience

Conservation agriculture · savings groups · livestock · clean water · climate justice

TLC empowers communities to improve livelihoods, food security, and climate resilience. In Gicumbi District, programs include conservation agriculture, village savings and loan associations, small livestock distribution, clean water access, and gender-based violence awareness, while youth train as guardians of the environment through tree planting and sustainable practices.
